The house “Ansbacher Tor” at Hauptstraße 57, which refers to the former city gate nearby (demolished in 1869), was first mentioned in documents in 1731. In that year, the house was purchased by the Welker family, who ran a bakery there.

Today's main street was the only longitudinal road that had already crossed the city from east to west since the Middle Ages, and was the important thoroughfare for many carts on the former iron road between Würzburg and the nearby imperial city of Nuremberg.

In 1818, baker Christoph Lierheimer purchased the property. In 1856, Wolfgang Wießner acquired the house. Until 1912, it was owned by Peter Seeberger and was then sold to the Heinrich Körner family. In 1933, the restaurant burned down almost completely. Margarethe Körner reopened the restaurant in 1945 after it had been rebuilt. The Körner family ran the restaurant until 1977. In 1993, it became the Ristorante Pizzeria “la Stivale,” then the “Trattoria Al Centro,” until the restaurant became the “Ansbacher Tor” again in 2025, taken over by Mr. Singh.
